About us
When it comes to horse racing in Saskatchewan, there is very little information available to those outside of the industry. What actually happens at the racetrack? Who is involved? Where does everyone come from? How does racing benefit the community?
We aim to answer these questions. We believe that it is necessary to encourage the continued support of Thoroughbred horse racing in Saskatchewan by sharing the stories and memories of the people who have dedicated their lives to the sport.

a heritage largely unsharedHorse racing has been an important part of Saskatchewan's heritage for more than a century. The industry has, throughout its great history, created innumerable long-lasting memories. These memories are held closely by those who experienced the events first hand. They are like wonderful treasures, kept safe in our minds, only to be revived in small groups over coffee or in living rooms during cold winter months, sometimes many years later.
These memories may span generations. They are a part of who we are, a part of our heritage, the culmination of a life's work for many. And yet, they remain safely stowed away in the minds of horsemen and women, their families, and perhaps a handful of avid fans. That means that, sadly, these memories often begin and end with the families of those who experienced the event first hand and perhaps a handful of friends within the industry. |
That begs the question, how many of these memories are kept within the small horse racing community that we have built for ourselves? And if horse racing is such an important part of each and every one of our lives and we wish - no, we need it to continue - why do we continue to keep these things hidden away?
If these memories are such a treasure to us, why do we not use them as a vehicle by which we can show the public exactly what makes this sport so special: the experience that is, to us, unmatched in anything else we do.
The industry doesn't begin and end with us. The sport can't sustain itself on our memories alone. But what good are our own unshared or collective experiences, our own appreciation of how important racing is, of what it can do for Saskatchewan if we keep these things to ourselves? As individual members of the industry, we don't have much to work with. But there's no reason why we can't use what we have to the best of our ability and see what comes out of it. |
We need to share our experiences with those who help make racing what it is:

The fate of the industry doesn't begin and end with us. But it needs to start with us.
